Holocaust Museum

This is a poem that was in this month's Volunteer Voice, which is the Holocaust Museum's newsletter for its volunteers. I liked it so much that I wanted to share it.

Why We Serve – Or Why We Shouldn’t  by Ed Weiner
“How can you possibly volunteer at the Holocaust Museum – it’s so depressing.”
“Is it safe? I mean really safe. I’ve heard stories…”
“Enough already, at your age it’s time for you to slow down.”
“You need to spend more time with your grandchildren.”
“I just read the metro system has broken down again.”
“And with all that flu going around, you don’t need to be there.”
“So just give me one good reason why you must still volunteer.”
“No, I can’t give you one good reason, but I can give you six million!” [Deafening silence] “I rest my case.”

And while I'm at it (and in an attempt to preserve the integrity of the PHOTO blog), below is one of my favorite quotes that is written on a wall in the museum.
